Recently ADASE has developed a range of Self Help Programs:

1. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM is presented by a visiting psychologist, this is a 3 hour presentation which covers extensively the six anxiety disorders, their related symptoms and causes. This program is then followed by a range of “A Great Step Forward Programs”.

2. BASIC PROGRAM (A Great Step Forward) consists of 3 hour presentation, incorporating education and awareness of anxiety issues and depression, management skills, imagery, self help tools around lessening the impact of anxiety disorders.

3. MIND OVER MOOD (A Great Step Forward). To participate in the Mind Over Mood program it is a prerequisite that you complete the Basic Program. The Mind Over Mood program is provided by a multi disciplinary team including a recovered consumer and a mental health worker. The program is recovery based and orientated, providing the client with information around:

  • Understanding of thoughts, moods, and feelings.
  • Provision of skills to enable the client to see how these thoughts interact and impact into their own life.
  • Cognitive Therapy around dealing with thoughts.

 

4. BASIC OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER PROGRAM (A Great Step Forward) consists of 3 hour presentation, incorporating education and awareness of anxiety issues Obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms and depression. Management skills, imagery, self help tools around lessening the impact of anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.

5. FRIENDS FOR LIFE PROGRAM (A Great Step Forward).

Further to this course we will be offering Peer Support to clients who would like to work on a more individual level.

Basic Program (A Great Step Forward) consists of 3 hour presentation, incorporating education and awareness of anxiety issues and depression, management skills, imagery, self help tools around lessening the impact of anxiety disorders.
 
Friends For Life Program Print

ADASE has been fortunate to receive the opportunity to be trained in delivering the Friends programme in September 2008.

The program has been designed by Dr. Paula Barrett and is acknowledged by the World Health Organisation. It is currently used in schools throughout Australia. There are several components to the program Friends for Life and Fun Friends.

Friends for Life program is aimed at Pre-school, Primary, and High School students. The contents of the program assist to build self esteem and provide social skills training. Anxiety and depression treatment and prevention are also covered.

Fun Friends is designed specifically for 4, 5 & 6 year olds. This program teaches emotional resilience.

There are many skills to be gained from the educational programs:

  • Dealing with difficulties, bullying and peer pressure.
  • Recognising signs of anxiety.
  • Relaxation techniques.
  • How to change negative “red” thinking into positive “green” thoughts.
  • Problem solving and positive coping strategies.
  • Understanding emotions in yourself and other people.
  • How to be kind and empathetic.
  • How to make and maintain friends

Mind Over Mood Print
MIND OVER MOOD (A Great Step Forward). To participate in the Mind Over Mood program it is a prerequisite that you complete the Basic Program. Educational Program Print

Anxiety Disorder & Depression educational information 3 hour session is presented by a visiting Psychologist . This 3 hour presentation allows consumers to observe and learn the many different scenarios in the causes and symptoms when presenting with an Anxiety Disorder and/or depression. This program is then followed one week later by a range of “A Great Step Forward Programs”.
